BIOGRAPHY
Brian Sun, a pianist from New Westminster, British Columbia, is a Bachelor of Music student in Piano Performance at the University of British Columbia, studying with Mark Anderson after previous instruction from Anne Wilson Unger. He has performed in masterclasses with May Ling Kwok, James Anagnoson, Roman Rabinovich, Inna Faliks, and Ronald Brautigam, and has appeared at the Chan Shun Concert Hall and the Vancouver Playhouse. A prizewinner in competitions including Crescendo International, Canadian Music Competition, and Vancouver International Music Festival, he won the 2026 UBC Concerto Competition and is a Robert and Ellen Silverman Concerto Competition finalist. Brian made his orchestral debut with the UBC Symphony Orchestra on April 10, performing Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. He will also perform with the UBC Chamber Orchestra on September 26, presenting Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5.
