BIOGRAPHY
Harold Fang, a 16-year-old sophomore at Wayzata High School, resides in Maple Grove, MN. Starting piano lessons at the age of six, Fang is currently a student of Dr. Denis Evstuhin and has attended masterclasses with Professor Alexander Braginsky.
Fang has earned a succession of First Place awards in 2026, including the Schubert Club Bruce P. Carlson Student Scholarship Competition, Thursday Musical Young Artist Scholarship Competition, Shattuck St. Mary’s Music Scholarship Competition, and Northwestern Piano Solo Festival Competition. In November 2025, Fang performed with the Minnesota Orchestra with his mature and beautiful interpretation of Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor (1st Movement), following his top prize victory in the 2025 Young People’s Symphony Concert Association (YPSCA) Young People’s Concerto Competition. His success also includes the Grand Prize in the 2025 Mankato Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Concerto Competition and First Prize in the 2025 Wisconsin Richard Record Rising Stars Concerto Competition. Fang was a featured young artist at the 2025 ProMusica Minnesota Festival. In 2024, he won First Prizes in the Wisconsin Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition and the Minnesota Golden Valley Orchestra Young Artist Competition. Beyond piano, Fang enjoys scouting, history, math, baseball, cello, and cooking.
