Pianist and Rhode Island native Maddox Realejo, 25, regularly performs solo recitals and piano concerti. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in May of 2025. At IU, he also serves as an Associate Instructor in the Piano Department. Realejo’s recent experience performing with orchestra includes Ravel’s Left Hand Piano Concerto after winning the Ravel Piano Concerto Competition at IU Jacobs School of Music in 2025 and Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Piano Concerto with the IU Philharmonic after winning IU’s Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto Competition in 2024. He also performed Beethoven’s 2nd Piano Concerto with the R.I. Philharmonic Youth Orchestra after winning the Rhode Island Philharmonic Concerto Competition at age 16. Other accolades include the “Beethoven Award” at the 2018 University of Rhode Island Piano Extravaganza Competition, first prize each year since 2022 at the Rhode Island State MTNA Competition, and first prize in the 2024 Indianapolis Matinee Musicale Piano Competition. He has studied under Dr. Spencer Myer since 2019 and previously with Dr. Irina Tchantceva at the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School. Realejo has also participated in numerous masterclasses with renowned musicians including Olga Kern, Jerome Rose, Stewart Goodyear, and Joyce Yang. Last summer, he studied and performed at The International Keyboard Institute and Festival in NYC. Along with solo and concerto repertoire, he enjoys performing chamber and collaborative works, and he has a passion for teaching piano to students of all levels.
