BIOGRAPHY
Spelexilh, Anjeanette Dawson, is an Indigenous educator and knowledge keeper who shares her expertise through traditional wool weaving workshops. One of ten women chosen by the Squamish Nation to revive this sacred art, she created the shawl for the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Her work is also featured at the Squamish-Lil’wat Cultural Centre in Whistler and the Aboriginal Atrium at Simon Fraser University.
During the VPS Reconciliation Sessions, she will lead a workshop, offering participants and the local community a deeper understanding of Coast Salish history and heritage through the art of wool weaving.
