RECONCILIATION / ANJEANETTE DAWSON
As part of VPS Reconciliation Sessions, Anjeanette Dawson (Spelex̱ílh) — traditional wool weaver, knowledge keeper, storyteller, and Indigenous educator of the Squamish Nation — leads a hands-on weaving workshop open to festival participants and the public. A daughter of residential school survivors, Dawson has devoted more than two decades to reviving and teaching the nearly lost tradition of Squamish wool weaving, a craft rooted in over 10,000 years of cultural practice. Participants will learn to weave using a loom while discovering the history, teachings, and healing power that this ancient art carries forward.
